Starting tomorrow, I'll be using new programming for powerlifting. The template is The Championship Program that Chad Wesley Smith put in his Juggernaut 2.0 A Thoughtful Pursuit of Strength.
Previously I was using The Juggernaut Training System, But for me 4 days a week is getting a bit boring, and im not motivated with it, so its time for a change.
The Juggernaut Training System is a 4 day a week system, based on the main 4 movements, Squat, Bench, Deadlift, and Military Press, Working through your precentages up to 95% of 95% of your 1rm for AMRAP, using a 3 weeks up 1 week down wave.
The Championship Program is a 5 day a week program, that works on the 3 weeks up 1 week down wave, but there is a distinct 3 phases, hypertrophy, Strength, and Peaking. The workouts during the week are: Squat, Bench, Deadlift, Squat, Bench. Each day is assigned either a High, Medium, or Low rating based on the weights used for the main lifts.
The way that I am going to be running the program, will be based on my lifting ability, along with how long I have been training. I am not by any means an accomplished lifter in my weight class, just breaking the 1000 point at ~185, being a class 3 lifter in Canada on a good day and only one semi serious year lfiting I am still very much a novice lifter, and becuase of being a novice lifter, I'll be running 4 hypertrophy cycles to really improve on muscle size, and quality, which we all know will help me be more strongerer! After winning the hypertrophy, I'll be moving onto 2 strength phases, and really starting the transition over to competition lifts, and maybe becoming strong, maybe. Lastly I'll be moving onto a peaking phase of 4 weeks, to get used to the heavyier weights that ill be using in a competition. All of this will be ending on the 16th of July of this year at a meet in Ottawa, and I can safetly say, I am already scared and excited for this, and motivated to put up some great numbers for my first meet. And I'll be competiting with a Belt and Sleeves
Tomorrow, this new program starts, and its going to run for 28 weeks. 16 of those weeks I'm going to be attempting to put on .5-1lbs a week, hopefully getting to 195-200lbs, after the bulk im going to start into a 12 week cut, aiming for 1-1.5lbs of fat loss getting to 182.6lbs or below, and competiting in the 83kg weight class, aiming for a class 2 total (<570kg or 1255lbs). To do the weight gain and loss, I'll be folowing Renaissance Periodization Diet, Adding or taking away 500-1000 calories or more or less depending on how much weight I gain or lose each week, and I will be weighing in twice a week, on my squat days, to track my weight.
Lets see how this shit goes! 28 weeks until my first meet, 196 days. This is gonna be interesting.
